"STEP_GRAD2016 – Modern theory and practice in construction industry " - 12th international scientific-professional conference which will be held from 7th to 8th of December 2016 in Banja Luka. Conferences are conceptualized through series of sessions such as :

Public institution Institute for Urbanism, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska took active participation in this significant international manifestation through organization of this event and many works that shall be presented by our colleagues on conferences.
Institute for Urbanism, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska is a contact-institution for marking The International Map Year - IMY in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
International Map Year in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be celebrated through various events starting December 2016. This event is organised by the Public Institution Institute for Urban Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska, Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and Faculty of Sciences of the University of Banja Luka, with patronage of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology of the Government of Republic of Srpska. The main purpose of the International Map Year celebration is to point out the importance of maps in everyday life and the importance of cartography in professional life.
The main activity of this celebration is exhibition of maps, cartographic instruments and GIS, that will be held on December 6th- December 16th in the Grand salon of Banski dvor Cultural Center in Banja Luka.
A part of Jelena Stanković's PhD thesis, consisted of Banja Luka maps found in archives, libraries and museums in Europe, will be presented at the exibition. PhD thesis „Mapping and Memory in Banja Luka“is successfully defended at the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom, with mentoring of Lorens Holm and Charles Rattray.
Besides, the XII International scientific and professional conference „Modern theory and practice in building development“ shall be organized in hotel Bosna, Banja Luka, on December 7th – December 8th. Besides, on December 8th in Banski dvor Cultural Center, a Solemn academy subject to celebration of 20 years of Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Banja Luka will be held.
In order to draw attention of wider audience, the exibition will be held in other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the following period.
PI Institute for Urbanism, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska had a chance to be a part of the Twentieth International Fair of Construction and Electrical-Mechanical industry “Grames – Demi”2016, held in Banjaluka (March 15th to March 19th). Along with 120 presenters from Bosnia and Herzegovina and region, and with companies from Austria, Germany, Denmark, our Institute presented and promoted its services in the field of urbanism, design, planning, environmental protection, materials testing, certification of construction products, energy efficiency and other related activities. .
In collaboration with Chamber of Commerce and industry of Republic of Srpska, our institution presented itself as successful company with years of experience where quality of service is imperative in business.
The five day Fair opened its door to many presenters and many issues also. The real issues that are of special interests when it comes to the business in Bosnia and Herzegovina are: problems of market stability, real needs, whether to focus to the domestic market and production or turn towards Europe, where to find finances, attracting investments, regulations etc.
Manager of the Public institution Institute for Urbanism, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska Stevan Jovanovic and manager of the Institute of Architecture and Urban and Spatial planning of Serbia Sasa Milijic on 10th March , 2016 in Banjaluka signed an Agreement on longterm cooperation. Mutual interests in scientific-research work and business were crucial for these two institutions to conclude this Agreement in order to improve business activities and quality of work , with an emphasis on activities and projects that are of special interests for Republic of Srpska and Serbia.
Considering the fact that between Republic of Srpska and Serbia exists an Agreement on Special Parallel Relations, the two Institutes continue to practice their strong cooperation on already started and on future projects also, such is development of river Drina’s area, infrastructural corridors, transborder cooperation, mutual appearances on regional and international projects.
Institutes shall work together on scientific-research activities, on spatial and urban planning, on architecture and construction field, respecting joint interests that are based on principles of solidarity and professional responsibility. They shall also work together on development and protection of water infrastructure, mining, protection and sustainable use of natural and cultural values, sustainable development of tourism, development of transnational and highway infrastructural systems.
“This Agreement provides a continuous education of staff, a consistent and prompt implementation of scientific achievements, development and use of geographic-information systems of our two Institutes. In the future, the exchange of planning documents and results of scientific-research projects should be much easier”, said Stevan Jovanovic, manager of the PI Institute for Urbanism, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska.
Manager of the Institute of Architecture and Urban and Spatial planning of Serbia Sasa Milijic hopes that the first joint project will be preparation of spatial plan of special purpose for the system of hydropower plants on the river Drina. Regulation on the spatial plan of the special purpose “Drina corridor” is a good foundation for economic development and growth, Sasa Milijic added.
The delegation of the Institute of Architecture and Urban and Spatial planning of Serbia visited laboratories of the Institute for Urbanism, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska that are partially restored after damages suffered in catastrophic floods during August, 2004.
The Assistant Minister for Spatial planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska Dragan Jevtic attended the signing of the Agreement on long term cooperation between two Institues.
